In this modern era, it’s not a big deal to start a blog even if you don’t have any technical experience.

Final thought!

Still, you are not convinced. You might be thinking-It’s too late. Nobody reads a blog. The market is saturated—Blah blah.

The truth couldn’t be any further.

Every business needs to communicate its message to the mass people. To do that they would need an online platform. Therefore, every business needs to communicate its messages, information through a blog.

Google sends one billion visitors every year to a new blog.

So far, you have got the reason to start a blog and motivation to do so. Let’s start talking about what to blog about.

Step One: What is a niche? Pick your niche?

Now that you have decided to create a blog, that doesn’t mean that you would write on anything. You need to pick up a niche to blog about. You might be thinking what the hell is a niche.

According to web dictionary:

Niche: ‘denoting or relating to products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population.’

For example, you want to talk about beauty products and their benefits. You shouldn’t talk to everyone walking on this earth.

Instead, you can target your message as per your assumptions. It could be busy women in their thirties or forties. You can talk about their frustrations, unique problems.

You can provide practical solutions for them. In no time, you would create your own Audience, and people will start reading your blog posts.

How to choose a niche:

Everyone is passionate about something. Everyone has some special knowledge inside them to share with the world.

When I was in school, I had an excellent knowledge of computer and electronics items. Whenever anyone in my family wanted to buy electronics, they would ask for my opinion. I would explain to them the pros and cons of a product and suggest the best product.

When I started working for a bank, almost everyone in my family relied on my money advice. I was passionate about learning finance. I spent my weekends and holidays to educate myself about financial freedom, saving money and making money.

Someone told me one day why you don’t start a blog and share your knowledge. I also realized that lots of people would benefit from my knowledge.

Similarly, you could start a blog on topics you would like to talk about for an hour or until you are stopped.

If you are wondering what the topics are you can write on which people will value. These are-

  • Online education
  • Dancing
  • Mental health
  • Car repairs or modification
  • Children Schooling
  • Health advice
  • Easy Cooking classes
  • DIY
  • Fitness and nutrition
  • Travel tips
  • Small business marketing
  • Digital marketing
  • Social media marketing
  • E-Commerce
  • Inspiration & Motivation
  • The topics are endless.

Each topic above has the potential to make $10,000 a month.

For an example, I can show you how you can start writing about those topics mentioned above-

Online Education: You can create a blog and offer online education services. Many people are earning money by teaching English, Math and what not.

Mental Health: The earning potential is huge. You can create helpful information products. These products should help people managing their stress and boost mental energy. You can create info products and earn money.

Car buying advice and repair tips: You can create helpful contents to show readers which car is the best in sedan or family car section. Additionally, you can share your car repair tips. You can earn money through sponsorship posts, advertisement etc.

Easy cooking tips: Just imagine how many people in this world are suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure due to eating out all the time. You can show then how to cook at home without much effort. You can sell your recipes, weekly mean plans etc.

Digital marketing: If you have a good writing skill, you can create blog posts for your clients. Then you can write their email marketing sequence. You can charge your clients to write social media pages too.

E-Commerce: Opportunities in E-commerce is exploding every day. People are looking for products online more than any other time.

You can create an e-commerce shop on shopify and sell things online.

In the last decade, the widespread use of e-commerce platforms such as Amazon and eBay have contributed to substantial online retail growth. In 2007, e-commerce accounted for 5.1% of total retail sales; in 2019, e-commerce made up 16.0%.

Final thought: Now you have a complete idea what you can do with a blog. All you need to do is create a blog. Find an apparent problem in that niche which you can solve. Then start publishing helpful content.

So what is your motivation? Let me know by commenting below.

Now, I will show you how to create a website in step by step:

After you have decided about a blog topic, now you have to select a domain name and web hosting.

A lot of people ask me, what are these?

What is a Domain name?

It’s merely an online address name of you. People will find your work by that name merely typing in the browser URL bar. It will help others find your blog.

The most famous example of a domain name is google.com or bbc.com.

Think about the shopping centre. You have just booked a shop to start your business. You have named your store. That name in the online world is called a domain name.

People will visit your Blog and visit you again and again on the internet typing that name on the Internet.

How to select a domain name?

The answer is there are no set rules to create a domain name. You can pick up any name as long as it is meaningful. Most importantly, you are feeling good about it.

There are plenty of blogs out there which doesn’t have any relevance to its name. I would suggest you create a name which is recognizable, easy to pronounce and type on the URL.

What is web hosting?

Web hosting is simply like a shopping mall. It hosts all kinds of different shops in the mall.

In the online world, it’s hosting your website information and pages. It will store all the files and videos and make them accessible to your site visitors.

In other words, your domain name will be with you as long as it is registered. You can choose a different Web hosting company, just like a shop owner moves his shop from one mall to the another. You can shift your website from one hosting to another.

How much it costs for Web hosting:

We are so fortunate that it doesn’t cost thousands these days like it used to be 10 years ago. You don’t need to break your bank. It costs as little as $5 a month that too with a good quality hosting service provider like Bluehost.

Choosing a good hosting company is the first step before you start doing anything for your Blog. Investing money with Bluehost will be one of your best investment.

How to start a blog with Bluehost:

If you host your WordPress blog on Bluehost that would be the best combination.

WordPress has been a free publishing platform since 2003 and now hosts more than 60% of all blogs on the Internet.

Bluehost is one of the most respected, very reliable companies in the Blog hosting industry.

This combination is what we’ll be using to start your Blog. Now, let’s get your hosting set up.

Now, it would be no brainer to create a domain name and host your website on Bluehost. I have tried many other webs hosting company. Bluehost makes it easier by simple clicks. In other platforms, you have to select your domain name and then install word press separately.

For a newbie, it is so cumbersome.

Here at Bluehost, everything is done in one click.

You don’t have to buy a domain name separately in Bluehost. It offers everything for a low cost. Especially if you are a beginner and don’t have much budget yet, you can try Bluehost with confidence.

The basic plan is the best for a beginner blogger.

I would suggest you select the basic plan. This is dirt cheap and more affordable to start a blog today.

Down the line, if you want to upgrade your plan, you can do so. You don’t have to select the plus or other plus plans.

Create your Bluehost Account

You can start creating a blog by providing your account details like your name, email address, and home address.

If you don’t prefer to manually enter your information, you can connect your Bluehost account with your Google account.

It works either way!

Select your Domain

From the previous discussion, you should have selected a niche now. It’s time to name your Domain.

Pro tip: Make sure your domain name is not complicated, difficult to type and easy to remember.

Just imagine once your business is operational and successful, but people can’t pronounce your domain name, it will not be good.

Wow! Creating a domain name with Bluehost is free. It’s worth of $15 itself. Free!

Bring over your Domain

If you have already a domain name, you can bring it over on Bluehost.

Once you have selected the Domain, then it will ask you to select extra packages. You don’t have to select all the extras. I would highly recommend selecting the first one. It will protect you from unwanted marketing calls, emails. You would save yourself from lots of nuisance.

People often ask, is it worthwhile, to go for a month to month vs going for a three-year plan. I would not recommend anyone going for a one-month plan. It creates unnecessary pressure on your time.

Your Domain will be expired, and you have to update your payment info over again and again.

The three-year plan is reasonable for me. As blogging is a long-term plan, you have to create your online presence for longer.

Moreover, a three-year plan is cheaper than other options.

Once you have selected the packages and other extras, now it’s time for making the payment.

The payment procedures is self-explanatory.

Step Three: Installing WordPress on your Blog

A content management system (CMS) is needed to maintain your website. This system allows you to create and manage your blog posts.

There’s the best option for this, is called WordPress.

Years ago, there were a few competitors to WordPress like Joomla or Blogger.

No one uses those anymore.

Now, a question should arise in your mind. What the heck is this thing called WordPress?

WordPress is the most popular CMS (Content Management System) globally, with millions of bloggers using it every day.

The latest blogging statistics show that over 60% of all blogs run on this CMS, including some renowned websites like Forbes, New York Observer, TED, Thought Catalog, TechCrunch, NBC, and others.

A Content Management System (CMS) is where you’ll be writing, designing, and publishing your blog posts. A good CMS (like WordPress) is easy to use; let’s organize your content, upload images, and videos, and control how your entire Blog looks using themes or custom design elements. The CMS you’ve already heard of is WordPress.

This is going to sound kind of unethical, but whenever I hear of someone using one of those old WordPress competitors, I laugh. It’s hard to take them seriously.

WordPress powers 35% of ALL websites. That’s how popular it is.

Use WordPress for your Blog, that’s it.

Because of how popular WordPress is, most web hosts offer a one-click install for WordPress. It’s super easy.

Bluehost made this really simple for you. This step is straightforward. It only takes a few steps to get it started.

Once you make the payment, you will be taken to the Bluehost account. It looks like this-

To install WordPress, you just need to follow some simple steps:

Login to your Bluehost account.

Find the website section and simply press on “Install WordPress”.

The MOJO Marketplace installer will take a couple of minutes to finish the installation process of your application. Once done:

Select My Installs from the top right corner.

Find the domain install and click Login.

Step four: Installing a theme on your Blog

After WordPress is installed on your Blog your website will look like this.

Now, its time for you to select a theme for your website. If you are just starting out, you don’t need to spend money on buying expensive themes. You don’t need to hire a web developer to write a few codes for you.

Just select a free theme for your website. I would recommend choosing the Hestia free option. Alternatively, you can pick up any free theme on word press. Just search for a theme on the search bar and click install. It’s pretty self-explanatory.

You can design your site based on your reader’s taste, preferences. One of the essential features of your theme has to be SEO friendly. There are lots of SEO friendly themes in the market which might not help achieve your SEO target. You have to remember that people buy based on looks, design.

They just don’t buy information, they become convinced by the aesthetics of your site.

Once your Blog has few hundreds of traffic visitors a month, you might want to upgrade to a paid theme. The free themes can be frustrating sometimes. You can’t change the theme as per your wish.

A paid version theme is a good investment. It gives a professional look on your website. Your visitors would find your site very much professional and trustworthy.

Step- Five: Choose the right plugins.

Plugins are similar to the mobile app. Each mobile phone app has a different function.

Similarly, each individual plugin has a different purpose without wasting much time. I would recommend you search below plugins and install on your website.

WordPress SEO Plugin- Rank Math: SEO means Search Engine Optimization. It takes lots of effort to optimize your blog post to appear on search engine top results.

Rank Math will help you by giving you a direction if your blog post is SEO friendly. Once it becomes SEO friendly, it will add traffic passively.

Pretty Links- (for affiliate links): if you want to promote a few affiliate sales on your blog post. This plugin is an absolute necessity.

Without pretty links your website article URL will look ugly. In most cases, it won’t rank. Google will not let you rank your post. It would merely be not trustworthy. Using Pretty Link, you can shorten your link.

It looks nice, as well.

Akismet: This plugin will reduce spam comments. This plugin is also necessary.

Unlike other social media sites, your websites will also face some similar kind of situation where you will have some comments which will be spam.

Like, the commentator will try to provoke you or your Audience to spend some money on them to gain success. This kind of comment is just spamming and needed to be removed.

So this plugin will help you to remove or reduce this kind of spamming.

Wordfence Security: Just like your computing device has antispam security software. Your Blog also needs a firewall to stop spammers spam you.

Just Imagine a wrong person gains access to your Blog and deletes some of your articles. How would that feel to you? You would be angry, won’t you?

What you need to do to protect yourself from any unwanted harm is to install word fence security.

Social Sharing Plugin – Social Welfare:

Just imagine 200 people is visiting your website and sharing your posts in their social media. There is a high possibility that your Blog will have more organic visitors per day.

This is why you need to install this plugin. You simply can’t afford to miss it.

Cache Enabler – WordPress Cache:

Cache means a collection of items of similar nature. It saves frequently accessed file in a cache so that it takes less time to load a file. That is why you need an excellent cache so that all the files can be downloaded quickly.

It will give the website visitor a good experience. At first, you need to download the plugin.

Then install and activate it.

These plugins are the bare minimum. After that, you can pick and choose other plugins as per your requirement.

Step Six: Create contents for your Blog

Now it’s time to create your first article. You have to create contents regularly. You have to be highly strategic to create contents. You have to aim to create at least one article for your Blog each week.

Without creating a regular article, your Blog won’t attract quality customers.

To create a new post, click on Posts. Then Add new. You will see something like this.

Keyword Research:

By this time, you have set up your niche. You know what you are going to write about.

Before you go any further, My number one recommendation would be to do research first on the topic. Create a table of contents what you are going to write about. Do keyword research.

For example. If you are a nutritionist and you want to write about diets. First, do keyword research on google to find out how many search volumes and how much people are willing to pay for that information.

It shows that this topic has a good number of search each month.

After that, I would suggest you install Chrome plugins called Keyword surfer in your browser.

This will give you a pretty good idea about exact topics it gets searched each month.

From this option, you can see which keywords have what search volume each month. You can also select your target country to find out volumes.

You can get different keyword ideas from various kinds of research and write your topic on those. Very soon, you would realize that your site posts are getting attention from your readers. People are sharing your contents. It means your website is one step closer to make money.

Step Seven: Install Google Analytics.

Google Analytics is a free plugin from Google, which is an analytical tool.

All you need to do is simply create a Google Analytics account and install it on your Blog.

There are plenty of reasons to use the Google Analytics tool, but I will talk about the two significant things:

First, Google Analytics stores and monitor your data over time. When you’re ready to look into your blog’s insights, you’ll be thankful that you’ve been collecting data since the beginning.

Second, it feels great watching people visiting your site in the beginning. From my experience, I can tell I clearly remember the first time Google Analytics recorded a visitor on my first Blog. I really thought it was a mistake. “Really, someone visited my site? Why would they do that? Who are they? Did they like it?”

It will give you a huge motivation boost when you see those first visitors. Even if you only check Google Analytics to see your total traffic, it will help you make a proper plan for your blogs.

It’s pretty easy to set-up. Let’s begin with step by step process:

Process 1: Log into your Google Analytics-

This is a straightforward task. Just go to Google Analytics and click on Start Measuring.

If you’re not logged into your Google account, it’ll ask you to log in to your Google account. If you already have one, do so. If not, then create a new one and Login with that.

Process 2: Create Your Google Analytics Account-

After completing the Process 1, it’ll ask you to a valid account name. You can simply use the name of your Blog or website for this.

You don’t need to worry about the boxes with checkmarks. You can change them anytime later.

Once you completed that you just click on Next at the bottom.

Process 3: Choose what kind of element you want to measure-

This section will ask you whether you want to measure a website, or an app, or a combination of both. You should choose Web since you are creating blogs.

Then again click Next.

Process 4: Fill the Property detail-

It’ll now ask you to fill in some details about your website, including its name, URL, industry category, and time zone.

Once you’ve done that, click on Create at the bottom.

Process 5: Copy and Paste the Tracking Code onto your website-

Once your account is created, you’ll have a unique JavaScript tracking code for your website.

Whenever you copy and paste that snippet of code into your site, Google Analytics will collect data for you.

That’s it! Everything has been done. You are now tracking your website with Google Analytics.

Step Eight: Pick a blogging flow:

Writing blog posts is not like a sprint; it’s a marathon. It’s more like a whole day backpacking trip where your goal is to keep running through the whole day until you reach your destination.

If you look over the best bloggers’ stories, you will find that they settle into a consistent writing pace, which they maintain for a few years. That’s right; you see the correct word, it’s years.

Here are some tricks to follow to keep the momentum of writing different types of Blog continuously:

Try to post a blog minimum once per week—this needs to be substantial. I recommend you start with a minimum of 2,000 words.

When you are a serious and professional blogger, then you will quickly post 2-3 blogs per week.

Larger sites quickly get 6-8 blogs per week with the help of some authors.

The professional ones known as a heavy hitter, push things to the limit will do 25-50 posts per week.

It’s not a big deal for them. They use this strategy for content marketing as their primary customer acquisition channel. HubSpot is a classic example of this.

Some bloggers start with real passion but lost their momentum in the middle portion of the journey. As a result, they lost their valuable Audience.

A report says 14% of bloggers usually don’t post regularly; instead, they post monthly.

Back to reality, a monthly basis is not a good option for you to keep the Audience towards you because they want posts more often than you think.

If you manage to post weekly, you’re already making a position on your Audience’s mind. You are posting more regularly than 37% of other blogs — this gives you a huge advantage.

Action Step: Start posting once a week.

I know it’s not easy to post every week consistently.

I’m going to tell you a short secret.

A great post should take you two days to complete. First of all, make a proper plan for this Blog. Then, keep the first day for research and outlining and as much writing as you can complete. After completing the first step, keep the second day finishing the writing, proofreading, and finally publish the post in WordPress.

Don’t lose your hope; don’t give the anxiety to take control of your mind. Push quality as hard as you can. You don’t merely think about what other people have already published in your category.

Your primary goal should be the key to building a site, and traffic over time is to write more valuable posts.

Step Nine: Build your own Audience.

The Audience is the prime key for a blogger. Without blog traffic, you don’t exist. You need to build your fan base for that kind of true Audience who will like your post every time, who will undoubtedly support you.

Suppose you set a target of getting 1,000 fans. So basically, having 1,000 fans means you will get the support of those people.

If you have a thousand raving fans, you can make a full living out of your blog.

As long as you keep publishing quality works and work hard, you will get there. Typically, it takes few months.

Action Step: Use this strategy to build your Audience.

Here’s are some simple strategies to get there quickly-

Always try to post a blog once per week. Never miss a week.

On every post, try to improve on quality as hard as you can. Google the topic, see what other people have done, and then make a proper plan, just how you can write something even better, and execute it according to the plan.

Find and write those stuff which hasn’t touched by anybody. Or can modify along with the era of existing topics.

To push even harder with the topic, get active on other online platforms. Post in Facebook groups, subreddits, Twitter, do podcast interviews, and get speaking engagements when you can – anything and everything. Be a true gentleman and be as helpful as you can be in these communities.

Always try to find a topic that significantly impacts the Audience, like what kind of topic the Audience wants to know more. Try to focus on it and ask yourself how to present it more effectively so that the Audience will love you at a glance.

As you are writing a blog, so your main focus needs to be on what people want.

Step Ten: Optimize your Site for Email Marketing and apply monetization strategies.

So, you have created a few blog posts. Now what?

It’s time for you to capture your reader’s email address. You can use Covertkit, Aweber, to grab your readers’ email addresses. You have to write a few good contents and share them with your readers in exchange for their email address.

If you are a newbie, the most recommended option is to use Mailchimp. It’s free up to 2000 Subscriptions.

Next, you need to think about website monetization strategy seriously.

Now, the Blog is set up. Its time to earn some money. There are several ways a blog to earn money-

Google AdSense: One of the most popular methods is Google AdSense. Many bloggers earn a fair amount of advertising fees by displaying ads next to their popular content. Participation in Adsense is free. Google will pay you for the clicks, impressions created on the ads. The average earning potential is the US $100-$2,000 month as a minimum.

Affiliate marketing: A lot of people earn money on affiliate marketing. They simply write contents on popular products and services available over the Internet. In that article, they refer to a particular product. As a referral partner, they get a commission. There are lots of famous affiliate marketer over the Internet. Their average earning is $3,000 to $70,000 a month.

Hurray, If you have come up to this far, you are a Blogger now! Welcome to the blogging world.

Final Words:

Blogging is a long-term game. It’s not a get rich quick scheme. Only one quality a blogger must-have is the patience.

Moreover, you have to be consistent. You have to create posts regularly. Without a good quality contents, you can’t expect to earn money within 100 days.

One of the Millionaire bloggers earned her first $100 after six months of her starting a blog. Now, she earns $100,000 a month.

The final tip is to utilize the keywords to search and optimize your articles. You will see that it will increase over time. In today’s era, if you don’t take action to start a blog and make your online presence, it would be a huge mistake. You will leave money on the table.
